Career and Guidance
Our team of experienced career and guidance counsellors are committed to ensuring that Amnuay Silpa students are supported throughout their journey to university and beyond.
Our careers and guidance programme introduces students to careers, faculties and universities in Thailand and internationally. Students complete aptitude assessments to provide teachers with individual student data to help analyse and plan subject selection.
Students receive personalised support in their career and guidance lessons and are able to schedule 1:1 appointments at any point in the academic year, in order to further develop their thoughts and planning for university applications. Our focus is to ensure that all students have the information and advice they need to make choices that are right for them, taking into consideration both their academic and personal profiles, and that the applications our students submit are of the very highest quality.
We value the role that parents have to play in supporting their children’s university ambitions and schedule regular parent workshops to ensure that they understand the options and requirements involved in the university application process to Thai universities and the pathways to studying abroad.
We host career days throughout the year, where we invite members of the ANS community to speak directly to our students and share insights into their careers as well as detailing necessary education and training for career success.
In Year 12, students have the opportunity to participate in the ANS World of Work Week. Based on the individual guidance sessions, students select a career path they wish to learn more about and the career and guidance team works with the ANS community and local businesses to locate suitable placements. The aims of this week are to develop an understanding of the work environment and what employers expect of their workers. It is an opportunity to explore possible career options, increase self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.
We regularly welcome back our former students to share their experiences with students. These sessions are extremely popular and provide vital information for all our students. The advice sessions help students to be aware of obstacles and provide an opportunity to share top tips and key information.
Our team of Higher Education Advisors, which includes specialisms in US, UK and Thai universities, draw on their wealth of experience to help our current students to select and apply to the institutions that best meet their needs and ambitions, irrespective of destination.
Guest speakers from both Thai and overseas educational institutions are invited to deliver accurate and current higher education advice to students so they may consider all opportunities available to them. Furthermore, we invite university representatives, from across the globe, to meet with our students at ANS University Fairs. Students have had the opportunity to get answers to all their questions, discover new opportunities and get expert advice on admissions, applications and scholarships in an informal setting. As a member of the Bridge U community, we continue to host regular webinars, as well as invite speakers to our campus to discuss higher education opportunities.
Amnuay Silpa is very proud of the number of students entering prestigious universities in Thailand. The guidance counsellors provide both individual and group support for students to assist and guide them through the Thai University Central Admission System. Parent workshops run every year to provide parents with up-to-date knowledge on the TCAS application system.
Support is provided for students including how to submit AS and A level results for application to Thai universities, as well as other necessary documentation and evidence. Teachers and students work closely to prepare for exams and plan applications carefully. Students are fully prepared for the various applications and documentation needed to access both Thai and International courses in Thailand.
Faculties that are particularly popular amongst students, such as those applying to medical school, are invited to group support sessions for both students and parents.
At the end of year 10, students on the bilingual track choose a pathway, guided by the Thai guidance counsellor. Teachers are able to offer tailored support and key information to students on the different pathways to prepare them for the various fields of Thai universities. Moreover, students are offered additional tutoring to prepare for specialised examinations and university interview techniques.
We have an increasing number of students studying abroad in top institutions. Students who are considering going overseas receive 1-to-1 guidance to support them through the university application process and are provided with opportunities to meet relevant speakers and attend overseas study events throughout the year.
Whether students are applying via the Common App to US universities, UCAS to UK universities or direct to universities around the world, students are provided with the most relevant and up-to-date information to support their application.
We regularly host workshops for both students, parents and teachers on a range of topics aimed to support application to higher education overseas. These have included support for students writing personal statements, analysing examples of the US university entrance exam questions and support for teachers writing references for students.
For students applying internationally, it is recommended that they choose the international pathway for years 12 and 13. This pathway is open for students regardless if they took the bilingual or international pathway in years 7-11. Studying 4 A-levels opens doors to students across the globe.
Our Oxbridge programme supports our children to reach for some of the best university destinations across the globe. This begins in Year 9 with the Oxbridge nurture group. Students are invited to meet with alumni and guest speakers to ask questions and learn about their education journey. We focus on higher order thinking skills as well as independent research projects to expand student’s knowledge beyond the syllabus. In years 12 and 13, students wishing to apply to Oxford and Cambridge, are offered expert guidance and individual support for this rigorous process
