Primary

Introduction

Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to the Primary Phase! I look forward to getting to know you and your child(ren) well, as they move through Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 at ANS. As Headteacher of the Primary Phase, it is my pleasure to support your child in transitioning from Foundation and preparing them for their onward learning in the secondary section.

The primary phase focuses on creativity and critical thinking, helping your child to overcome challenges and obstacles, building resilience in their learning and developing confidence when applying their knowledge, concepts and skills in new situations.

We are preparing curious future leaders and innovators, who act mindfully and responsibly.

Key to the success of our curriculum is the development of global awareness, founded on the rich Thai culture and heritage of our community. Strong and effective communication skills in English, Thai and Mandarin also drive learning in the Phase.

In addition to traditional learning, such as Thai dance and music, children develop their technological skills, as they become capable and responsible digital citizens. As part of this aim, we operate a ‘Bring Your Own Device Programme in Years 4 to 6.

Our large, intercultural, primary team of passionate staff are dedicated to nurturing and coaching your child(ren). We guide them carefully, through a global education as they celebrate academic and broader developmental milestones and local traditions.

Each child is unique, and so is their learning journey.

I hope you will find the information provided below, about the learning content for each year group, helpful. Each programme of study is carefully planned to provide breadth, balance and a wide range of exciting learning experiences, which are personalised and tailored to every learner.

Partnership is key and, on behalf of the primary team, I look forward to working closely with you as your child(ren) begin a new adventure and take the next steps to success.

Curriculum

Alignment of Thai and UK Curriculum Stages

The UK and Thai curricula provide a progressive and enjoyable learning experience for the children, following on from their Foundational years. The children are immersed in a bilingual setting and continuously learning through challenge and enquiry. Thai skills and content are structured around this UK learning approach. Mandarin Chinese is taught as the third language from Year 3 onwards and continues as a compulsory subject until Year 9.
